Assignment 5.1

  1. Navigate to My Drive within your Google Drive account.
  2. Inside of your Careers folder, create a new folder titled Education & Training.
  3. Read the Lesson 5 Textbook. 
  4. Make a copy of this Lesson 5 Study Guide, rename it Lesson 5 SG-(Your Initials), and move it into your Education & Training folder.  Use your Lesson 5 textbook to answer these questions.
  5. When you have read your Lesson 5 textbook and completed your Lesson 5 study guide, complete this Lesson 5 Self-Assessment. (You need a score of 100% before you can move on)

Assignment 5.2

  1. Go through this presentation to become familiar with the Education & Training career cluster.
  2. Make a copy of this Google Document, rename it Pathways5-(Your Initials), and move it into your Education & Training folder.
  3. Utilize the following links to get a stronger understanding of the Education & Training Career Cluster and to complete your document:

Assignment 5.3

  1. After researching the Education & Training career cluster, you need to select a career within that career cluster to research. Confirm with your instructor, via email or in person, what career you chose.
  2. You can use the resources below, but you will need to find FIVE additional credible resources to enhance your understanding of the career chosen.
  3. Make a copy of this Google Document, rename it Career Questions-(Your Initials), and move it into your Education & Training folder.  As you research your chosen career, you need to gather information and answer the questions posed in the document.
  4. Once you have compiled your information about your chosen career within the Education & Training career cluster, you will be required to formulate a speech that details the information you found.  You can use props, charts, and the like to enhance your speech, but in the end it will be you giving your speech to an audience.  Your speech will be a recording that is viewed by your classmates.  Your speech will need to be at least 5 minutes long, but no longer than 10 minutes in length.  Here are the things you will need to complete this project:
    • Outline showing how your speech will flow as well as your work cited on a separate page (Google Document named Outline-(Your Initials)) (Use MLA formatting…Resource)
    • Props, graphs, charts, or images to help enhance your speech (not required)
    • Be sure to address each specific question posed in your Career Questions document to help give clarity and direction about your career.
    • Recorded video (edit with Canva if you’d like) of you giving your speech that will be uploaded and shared with your classmates (video file named MyVideo-(Your Initials))

Assignment 5.4

  1. On Day 26, you will have your speech evaluated by your classmates while you do the same for them.  Your speech will be evaluated based on this Scoring Rubric.  Make a copy of this Scoring Rubric, rename it Education & Training Scoring Rubric-(Your Initials), and move it into your Education & Training folder.  When instructed, use this form to evaluate your assigned classmates.  Once you receive your assigned classmates, double click each student sheet tab to rename it as the classmate you are observing.
  2. Share your Education & Training folder with your instructor.  Your folder should include the following files:
    • Lesson 5 SG
    • Pathways5
    • Career Questions
    • Outline
    • MyVideo
    • Education & Training Scoring Rubric
