When you are finished with Lesson 12-1, you will be able to:

  • Explain the function of promotion as part of the marketing mix.
  • Describe the communication process and identify its eight elements.
  • Explain the three roles of promotion in marketing.
  • Define the two types of communication that are important to marketers.

Assignment 12.1.1

  1. Log into your Google Drive account.
  2. Navigate to your Digital Marketing folder.
  3. Inside of the Unit 3 folder, create a new folder titled Lesson 12.  Everything you create in Lesson 12 will be stored in this folder.

  1. Obtain a copy of the notes handout.
  2. Read Lesson 12-1 on pages 426-432.
  3. As you read, utilize this presentation to help you fill in the missing parts on the handout.

  1. Create a new Google Drawing, title it Persuasive-(Your Initials), and move it into your Lesson 12 folder.
  2. In your drawing, write a persuasive ad that could convince consumers to purchase a particular product.  You can choose the product or service (must be school-appropriate) that you wish to present.  Remember that with persuasion you must not only describe the product or service but also include convincing benefit statements explaining why consumers need the product or service.  Be sure to include appealing images with your persuasive ad.
