When you are finished with Lesson 4-3, you will be able to:

• Explain actions by the government to regulate business.
• Discuss the efforts of the government to assist businesses.
• Identify the methods used by the government to raise money.

1. Obtain a copy of the notes handout.
2. Read Lesson 4-3 on pages 87-91.
3. As you read, utilize this presentation to help you fill in the missing parts on the handout.

1. Create a new Google Document titled History of Antitrust Laws-(Your Initials) and place it in your Chapter 4 folder.
2. Research various antitrust laws.  Determine how and why these laws were put into place.  Here are some examples:
   • Sherman Antitrust Act (1890)
   • McCarran-Ferguson Act (1945)
   • Celler-Kefauver Act (1950)
   • Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Antitrust Improvements Act (1976)
   • Robinson-Patman Act (1936)
   • Federal Trade Commission Act (1914)
   • Clayton Antitrust Act (1914)
3. Choose TWO at a minimum.  Read through your researched information to become familiar with the law and why it was passed.
4. In your document, record your findings in paragraph form that’s one-half to a full page in length (size 12, Times New Roman font, double-spaced).  List your sources of information in a footer at the bottom of the page.
